2020 Summer Collaboration

The WHY:

 An Online Encounter

2020 FLAND Summer Collaboration

June 14th - August 4th, 2020

Online

Welcome to FLAND’s 2020 Summer Collaboration “The WHY: An Online Encounter.”

We are so glad to have you join us for this unique encounter. As we dive into the study of Bill VanPatten’s thought-provoking, yet accessible book, While We’re On The Topic, we know that you will be challenged to think about your teaching in a more critical way and what better way to do that than to do it with friends with whom you can talk through the substantive work.

During this Summer Collaboration, we will take the opportunity to focus on the WHY:

Why do we make the choices that we do in our teaching strategies? We would like to challenge all participants to unite in reflection this year and to consider their own WHY. While reading the book, answering questions and, responding to other participants’ responses, we will consider the best practices of Second Language Acquisition and how they are best appropriated in our classrooms. Additionally, we will discuss the important connection between our practices and their alignment with ACTFL.

Thank you for your patience with us as we have navigated something new for this summer. We appreciate that so much. Hopefully, you have ordered and received your copy of the book and that you are ready to DIVE IN! We apologize that we did not have the whole summer experience ALL planned out months in advance as we normally do, but planning for a lot of unknowns weighed heavily on us all, and we wanted to do the best we could under the circumstances to provide you with an event that would be time well-spent. Without further ado, join us for the FLAND 2020 Summer Collaboration.
