Opportunities

The opportunity of networking and comradery among other foreign language teachers is the number one benefit of FLAND.

The opportunity to learn from each other and advocate for each other is not something provided by many schools.

Two meetings are held annually. The fall meeting has credit opportunities through several ND universities.

Come and join us for lively presentations, discussions, and a community ready to support you.

The Herb Boswau Memorial Scholarship is a scholarship created to honor its namesake, Herb Boswau. His dedication to Foreign Languages and regular attendance at regional and national conferences has been an inspiration to many teachers in our state. With this $500 scholarship, Foreign Language teachers will be able to defer some of the costs of travel and fees to attend regional and national conferences.

Travel stipend for being past president

The past president has been chosen to receive a $500 travel stipend from FLAND to travel to Central States or ACTFL as a representative of FLAND. When relevant they will also serve as the delegate of the state and attend the delegate/advisory council meetings.

At the next meeting they will then report to FLAND what the current issues, topics, and trends are to the group.

The Barb Beach Foreign Study Abroad Scholarship was created by Barb Beach herself to help language teachers take advantage of one of the best professional developments they have - study abroad.
