Supporting Foreign Languages on a National Level

We currently support the group JNCL-NCLIS. JNCL-NCLIS stands for the Joint National Committee for Languages and The National Council for Languages and International Study. JNCL promotes public awareness of language issues at its annual Delegate Assembly in Washington, ND. NCLIS has engaged in public advocacy on behalf of languages and international education. Both of these organizations work together throughout the year to bring these languages issues to the national level.

If you feel that not enough is being done to promote languages or you need to inform your senators and representative, please contact your state senators as well as representative. Our phone calls, emails, and letters can make the difference. (But all offices prefer emails.)

If you are not sure what to say or write, check out ACTFL's Advocacy page with current issues and drafts of letters you may email. One more tip is to EMAIL or CALL. Do not send snail mail, it is the last thing they get to.
